Welcome to the Ravat Group - It's all about Chirality
We investigate how molecular chirality controls optical and electronic function in organic materials. Using bottom-up synthesis, we prepare atomically precise, enantiopure π-conjugated molecules that serve as model systems for correlating structure and function. Combining advanced spectroscopy with electron microscopy, we probe their optical, electronic, and self-assembly behavior across length scales. Building on these insights, we develop multifunctional organic nanostructures for applications in organic electronics and investigate phenomena such as chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS) and magneto-chiral anisotropy, with the long-term aim of enabling chiral optoelectronic and spintronic devices.
